Undertow: This new song from Kliffs' forthcoming album is an homage
For the next two months, the song is available exclusively on Bandcamp, and only in digital format. If you are interested in helping those who are at the darkest point in their lives, please consider purchasing the track. 100% of the proceeds will go to suicide prevention hotlines, and will honour our dear friend who we miss so much.

Dearest Friend, I remember sitting with you on the beach at Spanish Banks around 2000. Both in university and had both just discovered Yukio Mishima, the brilliant writer, with his own political and personal baggage, who ended up committing Hara-Kiri in protest against the government in 1970. It was March. A rare sunny day in Vancouver with snow on the North Shore mountains. Warm enough in a sweater. Downtown towers to our right, the gray-blue waters of the Georgia Strait to our left. At one point you asked me what would be the best way to die. Startled by the question, I said after a few moments that passing in my sleep would probably be the best. Nice and peacefully. You looked at me considerately, then turned to look at the peaks across English Bay and said that passing in water would be beautiful. Years later, after some hardships – some that I knew of, but many I feel I did not – you decided to choose the water. The list of attributes I could use to describe you is long. The love I have for you remains strong.

For those of you reading this, if you sense someone you love is slipping away, please don’t hesitate.
With love,
Kliffs
